Joe Johnson
At present I am Head of Music at Kirk Balk School in Hoyland, Barnsley. Although this is a full-time job and takes up many hours, I still find time for other musical activities.
Aside from conducting the Band and Ensemble, which
I have been doing for twelve years, I also compose
my own music, adjudicate at local competitions, tutor privately and provide piano accompaniment services
for students sitting exams.
I have recently obtained a Masters Degree in Music from the Open University and have begun work on a PhD.
Whilst conducting the Band I have had the pleasure of conducting in several exciting venues including the Millennium Dome and in various picturesque towns in Brittany, France, recording two C.D.s and presenting a ‘Listen to the Band' show on local radio. It has been my pleasure over the last twelve years to watch the Band develop into the fine institution which it is today!
